What is open enrollment?
Open enrollment is the ONLY time each year without a qualifying event when eligible members may enroll or make changes to their health coverage for themselves or their dependents.
The open enrollment period for the Allegheny County Schools Health Insurance Consortium (“ACSHIC”) is May 15 through June 15, 2021. Employers may adjust those dates based on their schedule but open enrollment must be finished by June 15.
Examples of the type of changes members can make during open enrollment are:
• Adding or removing dependents without a qualifying event
• Opting out of coverage
• Adjusting the plan type
If you have specific questions about your benefits please contact the plan administrator, your human resources department, or your union representative. Changes during open enrollment can only be made through your employer.
Each employer will have different premium sharing structures which can be confirmed by contacting the plan administrator, your human resources department, or your union representative.
The types of plans offered by ACSHIC including benefit grids, helpful videos, preventative care, and wellness rewards can all be found on acshic.com and the acshic app.
In addition, Community Health Magazine is produced quarterly and contains success stories from other members, plan changes, provider updates, and helpful lifestyle tips to get the most from your benefits coverage and make informed decisions.
